So... just curious, btw. How have everyone's years been going ( < really cool grammar... doesn's seem to sound right). Classes? clubs? Anybody see the plays? Like the Bat Boy Musical of crazy?

I dunno, the community looked like it needed a new post ^^;

Orientation [Aug. 2nd, 2006|04:12 pm]
Mary Washington Class of 2010

I just looked at the schedule for orienation, and just reading it makes me feel like I need a nap. So many meetings and sessions and activities and events! After that little taste of how exciting university welcomes can be at preview, I'm not looking foreward to a whole 5 days worht of the same kind of thing. Maybe some of the entertainment stuff will be fun though.

See for yourself- http://www.umw.edu/cas/orientation/schedule/default.php

I'm Christine, though I go by Chris or Christy. I had to actually because I kept getting mixed up with all the Christinas and Kristinas at high school. Obviously I am going to Mary Wash this fall or else I wouldn't be posting here. I hope to be a Biology major, maybe tie it with a Psychology minor. But hey, thats just an option. Minds change so easily over 4 years.

I am so excited to be going to college. As most people would call it, it's another chapter in my life. I love to read, write stories, watch movies, hang out with friends. I love watching soccer, and I did track in middle and high school. Though I hope to try Rowing at Mary Wash. But my schedule for first semester can't seem to accomadate that last option, which is too bad. (Damn Chemistry Lab. LOL.) I am an amateur photographer also. I have a facebook if you are curious. I will be looking for any of you guys there also. Cheers.

I'm Amanda, and people usually come up with their own nicknames for me. Actually, they generally just drop the first A- it saves energy I guess. I live in Maryland, which isn't really that far from UMW, so I'll be at preview on the 21st. I'm probably going to major in French, but there's still time to change my mind.

I'm excited about college, especially since it will actually mean more free time for me (I hope). I'm doing an internship now as a clerk, which really means a lot of photocopying, bindermaking, and phone-answering.

As far as interests go...mine vary. I love reading. Also, I saw someone else on here with a Dead Like Me Icon, so I'll express my appreciation for that. I don't really play any musical instruments anymore. I do like theatre- but I've only helped with a bit of tech. I've got a friend who's a great actor though, so I like to follow her local plays.
The only sport I tried in High School was track, which only lasted as long as my ankle did. What I really love is skiing, and I want to go as much as possible this winter.

As far as college, I'm still trying to decide on my classes, and I'm really, really hoping the roommate thing works out well for me. That's all I can really think of to type right now. Hope to see you guys soon.

hi everyone... I'm Steph, I usually go by Junior, or my last name (Rocha). I'm from Little Compton, RI, which is just as little as it sounds. I'm your stereotypical small town kid, I live in a farm, etc. But I'm not that square, I promise. I'm a volunteer firefighter, I've played the acoustic guitar since I was 7, and I just started playing rugby. I don't really know what to say. I like to have fun, I'm really easy going. I'm so souped for college.
I've been going to tech school for 2 years for graphic design, was going to go to Emerson College for it, then out of the blue I was like "hey I think I'm going to go to UMW and major in history.political science instead". So those are my majors for this week. Knowing me, by tomorrow I'll have something new picked out. Kinda bummed that I can't go to Preview, but I hope you all have a great time.

I'm soooo impatient, I want to find out about roommates and such asap.

Here's a question.  The exemption for ENGL 101 is "scores of at least 670 on both the SAT I Verbal and the SAT II subject test in Writing."  I don't know if that was written before or after the new SAT, but I got 760s on both Verbal and Writing on the SAT I, and aced the SAT II subject test in Literature.  Do you think I could work out an exemption or would they be strict on that SAT II Writing requirement?

*edit* Here's an answer!  "Scores of 670 or higher on BOTH the Critical Reading and Writing portions of the new SAT."

More introductions! I'm Hart, born and raised in Great Falls, VA. I'm going to UMW next year- well, of course I am. Why else would I be here? I'm still nervous but I have a few older friends there (but feel free to add me so I won't feel so alone next year!) and I've loved the University at every visit.  Mostly I'm nervous about how half of the rooms in the building I applied for are triples (please don't give me a triple, please no triple).  Anywho, I've wanted to be a doctor for as long as I can remember, so I guess a biology or chemistry major? I really don't know if I have the scientific aptitude to cut it, but we'll see. Maybe I do, and if not, dreams change.

Despite that, a lot of my interests fall on the humanities side. I did a Shakespeare fellowship at the Folger Library last semester which was flippin AWESOME (but I'm a geek)- I love the bard, as well as Fitzgerald, Hemmingway, and Emerson. Other things, I've also been a fairly active Libertarian supporter in the DC area, but it's not like any amount of supporting will make a difference to that party because hey nobody knows what the hell it is and now I'm rambling.  I've played the piano since I was 8, I've been dating a girl for a year who knows way too much about Broadway and thus I know way too much about Broadway, and I'm pretty sweet on a pogo stick.  So here's to hoping for a good year and a roommate who I don't hate.

So that's me. The end. OR THE BEGINNING?

God, shut up. Just shut up. Post over.
